So it’s April 30th, and in the world of *NSYNC fans it’s #ItsGonnaBeMayDay, and I’d originally planned on sharing a video compilation of Justin saying “It’s gonna be me” in his Southern accent. Well that all changed like 5 minutes ago. In fact, I decided against it right when the song started playing while shuffling through my Aria*NSYNC playlist. Instead I wanted to share some of my mom’s favorite songs with y’all.
I touched on a few of these on last week’s podcast episode, but I wanted to share some more of them with y’all. I was texting Tavaria last week after the episode dropped and she shared her memories of the day that my mom passed with me and that was something we hadn’t done. Like ever. We’d let 16 years go by without discussing what she went through that day, and our discussion was LONG overdue. It got heavy really quickly and we ended up lightening the mood by talking about some of my mom’s favorite songs. There are some that are still hard for us to listen to, like “Alabaster Box” by Cece Winans and “Running Back to You” by Commissioned. Then there are others that bring a huge smile to my face and make me feel that much closer to her like “Najee’s Theme” by Najee and “Do I Do” by Stevie Wonder. I’m sure that y’all might recognize some of these songs because your parents probably played them around the house, so take a listen below and let me know if these were any of your parents’ favorites.
