How does that Tik Tok sound go again? I understood the assignment?
AND I DID!
I got invited to a high tea by a vendor and immediately jumped at the chance to get gussied up for a nice afternoon. A small group of women in my industry met up a the Hermitage Hotel here in Nashville for an afternoon of mingling, champs, tea and pastries.
This wasn’t my first time going to a high tea, and I was working from home that morning so I wanted to make sure that I was dressed for the occasion. This blue is one of my favorite colors and this cocktail dress has never steered me wrong so I dusted it off and snagged a cute pillbox hat to sit on top of these curls.
The Yellow Rose Tea we attended was in honor of the passing of the 19th amendment and women’s suffrage. And while I have my issues with that Susan B. Anthony and her racist posse and how they brushed aside the Black women who stood in the trenches with them and fought for the same voting rights, I understand that this was a great moment in history for women in this country.
But back to our tea! I had this delicious cacao chai with brown sugar and honey and y’all, I need to find that blend. It was so damn good! The conversation flowed as well as our tea and we decided that we needed to get together regularly. It’s really nice networking with other women in the industry, because let’s face it it’s still an old man’s industry. We’ve come a long way with diversity, but when folks think of commercial real estate they don’t picture me.
I’m looking forward to see these ladies again and I can’t wait to share my other adventures with y’all here on the blog.
