Words can’t even begin to describe all of the emotions I’m feeling right now. It’s official y’all, Not only did I get promoted into a manager role but I’m relocating…TO NASHVILLE!
I’m a ball of emotions! Excited because it’s a great opportunity that I asked for, but I’m leaving everyone I know and love and that makes me a little nervous. I’m confident that this a great move for me, and one of my new affirmations is that I will flourish professionally and personally while I’m there.
My new role starts on June 1 and I’ll be flying back and forth for a bit between the two cities while I finish my lease here in Houston and get things set up in Nashville, and I’m looking forward to that. I have an idea in mind for the type of place I want and what part of town I want to be in, and now I just need to get utilities set up. You know, the standard things that I’m slowly finding out aren’t so standard. Like the fact that there’s only one electric provider for the city. Y’all, coming from Texas where there are 50-11, that was a HUGE shocker for me. Then there’s the actual move itself! I’m blessed enough to have parents who have volunteered to drive my things up to Nashville for me, and I’m gonna see if they can stay a couple days and help me unpack and get things hung up before I fly them back home.
And I’m preparing myself now for the weirdness that will come with not being able to see my loved ones physically in person for a while. My dad comes to and through Nashville frequently so I’ll probably see him at least once a month, but not so much for everyone else. This means that family Zoom calls and sibling Facetimes, as well as Facetime calls with my nuggets are going to become a regular occurrence.
I need all the tips though, especially from those of you who have relocated between states for work. Drop ’em below and help your girl out!
