I shared these tips with my team at work during our monthly meeting last week and I wanted to share them with y’all. It’s Earth Week and now’s the perfect time to hit reset and start implementing these tips if you haven’t already.
Pack your breakfast and/or lunch. – Not only will you be saving money by not eating out, but you’ll also cut waste down by using reusable containers/Tupperware.
Reusable mugs and cups are the way to go. – With the specialty syrups and milk frother in the office now you can make your favorite coffee shop beverages up here. Use one of the many company branded mugs we have in the office or bring your favorite one from home…I have like 6 or 7 at work!
Green your commute. – I don’t know about y’all, but I’m back in the office 100% and I rideshare to work exclusively. It works for me and my budget because I’m less than 2 miles from work, and on a good day my commute is like 7 minutes with all green lights. This might be harder with COVID, but using services like Lyft/Uber/Pingo/biking really help cut down your carbon footprint if it makes sense for your budget. Plus we’re still wearing masks and taking proper COVID safety protocols while in the vehicle.
Take paperless notes. – Y’all know about my love of OneNote, and I’m slowly getting everyone on board with paperless notes. I have two co-workers now using bluetooth keyboards with their devices to take digital notes in meetings and they’re great because not only are we cutting down our paper waste, but our notes sync across all devices. You can also use services like Microsoft Word, EverNote or Ubernote.
Participate in E-Waste Drives. – Like I said, it’s Earth Week so you can likely throw a stone and hit 2 or 3 e-waste drives. Now’s the perfect time to bring those old electronics from home up to the office and dispose of them properly.
Reuse old office supplies by introducing an upcycle station. – Before you order a new stapler or pair of scissors from Staples, check the cabinet and see if there’s a pair in there. You’ll be saving money and giving the existing supplies a second life. We do this at the office and it’s a great budget saver too!
Happy Earth week, y’all!
