Another Friday, another collaborative post for y’all! Summer’s officially here, and even though I don’t get a real summer break since I work in the corporate world I still get quite a downtime. Sometimes it’s nice to veg out on the couch or in my bed, but other times I want to keep busy and these tips have definitely helped me in the past, and I hope they help y’all!
For many of us, summer is the best time of the year. It’s when we finally get a chance to forget about work and indulge in some much-needed rest and relaxation. Enjoyably using your free summer afternoons is something that you owe to yourself. What’s the point of having time off from the daily toils of life if you can’t spend some time just enjoying the fact that you’re alive?
Indulge Your Inner Artist – A lazy summer afternoon is a perfect time to indulge your inner artist. Go outside, set up your easel, and choose something inspiring to paint.
Plan Your Next Trip – If you’ve already got all your vacations planned for the year, that doesn’t mean that you can’t explore new places to visit. Even if you’ve been to every continent on Earth, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy new cultures and take part activities. Searching for great travel destinations is always fun.
Get Your Game On – Online gaming has come on leaps and bounds in recent years. It’s something that practically anyone can enjoy. You don’t have to buy an expensive gaming computer or console: the internet browser on your phone will do. What’s more, there are hundreds of games from which to choose, many of them with free slots without download or registration. You can keep yourself happily entertained for many hours, sitting in the shade, sipping on a refreshing drink.
Go To A Summer Fair – Summer fairs are a great opportunity that summer is here and you can spread your wings and enjoy outdoor activities. Summer fairs are a great chance to do something new and exciting with your friends, eat fresh food, and watch interesting entertainment. Summer fairs often have arts and crafts, allowing you to learn something new, like cookery, archery, clay pot making and a whole host of other things.
Plan A Party – The summer is a time to celebrate. The weather is great, and most people have time off. What better time to organize a party, just for the sake of it?
If you do organize a party, why not pick a theme? You could choose a party with any one of the following:
- Casino and Vegas theme
- Retro disco
- Fire and ice
- Pirates and shipwreck
- Everything pink
Meditate – Got some free time? Then why not give meditation a try (if you haven’t already). Western science has found that meditation offers all kinds of benefits for your wellbeing. It helps to reduce anxiety, improve concentration, lower blood pressure and can improve feelings of depression in some people.
Brainstorm Your Next Hobby – Is there something that you’ve always wanted to do as a hobby but never got around to it? A long summer’s afternoon is the perfect time to brainstorm and start thinking about fun activities: gardening, photography, knitting: it could be anything. Start investing in yourself today and think about something fun that you could do.
So, aside from writing blogs, what can you do entertain yourself on a long, hot summer’s afternoon? Let’s take a look.
