Another day, another ‘Black Panther‘ post. This time I wanted to highlight the music from the movie. The soundtrack was released a few weeks ago and Kendrick Lamar did an amazing job curating it. It bangs, point blank period. Kendrick did a few tracks himself, but it also features SZA, The Weeknd, Jorja Smith, Khalid and more. It’s one of those soundtracks that you can play top to bottom and not skip a single track. The songs fit so well with the movie too! If you haven’t checked it out, please do so below.
But that’s not the only thing I think y’all should check out. I actually combined the score and the soundtrack on this playlist. I’m a band nerd so scores are my jam, especially when they’re good. Ludwig Goransson did this one (he also did ‘Creed’ and a few others), and it’s so damn good! From what I heard it was a 140 piece orchestra including African drums, plus a 40 person choir and it’s something you need to check out. I love how’s there’s a distinct difference between T’Challa and Killmonger’s themes, even the little detail of having a trap-esque beat for Killmonger’s to highlight the fact that he was raised in America! I’ve seen the movie enough times to be able to pick out the scenes when I hear specific songs on the score and that’s the sign of a truly great score. I suggest y’all check it out below and let me know what you think!
