I’m back at it again with another collaborative wanderlust post for you guys!!
Alabama, otherwise known as the Heart of Dixie or the Yellowhammer State, often tops polls as the least visited state in the whole of the USA. This is absolutely bizarre! Why? Well, it has so much to offer! Whether it’s a laid-back retreat or an educational and immersive cultural experience that you’re looking for, there will be something to meet your tastes and requirements. Here are just a few things that you can look forward to if you do choose to visit this stunning state!
Top Class Accommodation
Before you even arrive in Alabama, you should be aware of some of the world-class accommodation that it has to offer. Always book before your trip, as demand can often be high, so you will want to secure somewhere comfortable and up to standard. There’s something to suit everyone. Just take a look at Microtel Inn & Suites – Decatur as an example! This establishment offers comfort, hospitality, and affordability with lodgings that you can truly feel at home in.
White Sand Beaches
So, where to head first? Well, when we take a vacation, we tend to first think of sun, sea, and sand. Luckily for those in search of this, Alabama has a Gulf Coast with thirty-two miles of white sand beaches. Perhaps the most notable is Orange Beach. This eight-mile expanse of white, sugar sand beach has numerous attractions, offering the perfect day for people who enjoy lounging and people who want a little more activity too! Alternatively, take a trip to Dauphin Island, renowned for its perfect bathing spots.
U.S Space and Rocket Center
Believe it or not, Alabama is home to the world’s largest space center. This makes sense, considering that the state is responsible for putting the first humans on the moon! The U.S Space and Rocket Center makes for a brilliant day out, whether you intend to visit alone or have little ones with you too. The main exhibit area has an extensive collection of rockets and space memorabilia, and there are regular traveling exhibits that pass through the museum. Make sure you have time for one of the many films that are also screened on IMAX screens daily!
Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge
If you’re a fan of all things natural, take a kayak trip out into the Bon Secour National Wildlife Rescue. This is a physically demanding day, but it’s more than worth the effort and things will be taken at a comfortable speed. Led by a professional guide, you will find yourself gliding along a relatively undisturbed coastal barrier habitat that provides homes to sea turtles, masses of bird species, and the endangered Alabama beach mouse!
As you can see, Alabama holds so much potential for a getaway from your usual regime. There’s absolutely no reason why this state should draw in any fewer visitors than any other. There’s plenty to do, and this sole destination could meet the wants and needs of a group with varied and wide-spanning interests!
