I’ve discovered and rediscovered some really good beauty products recently! I wouldn’t say that I’m always on the hunt for a new foundation, mascara or general beauty product but I definitely pay attention when something’s recommended to me. Between suggestions from friends, bloggers, and gifts my makeup bag has some pretty great additions. There are some products I reach for on a daily basis and others I only pull out when I have a special event coming up (like a podcast taping), but I definitely see myself purchasing these items again.
It Cosmetics CC Cream – I drank the kool-aid. I jumped on the bandwagon. I now understand the obsession with this product. It goes on like butter and melts into my skin so well. I was a bit unsure when I saw the shades available for my end of the color spectrum but ‘Rich’ ended up working well for me. For a bit of time I had to mix both ‘Rich’ and ‘Deep’, but my tan faded a bit in the winter and the lighter of the two ended up being a good winter foundation for me. It’s not too heavy, super moisturizing and blends really well. I only wish that there were more color options available.
ColourPop No Filter Concealer – I know that I’ve blogged about this before, but I LOVE THIS CONCEALER! I snagged Deep Tan and Deep Golden a few months ago and I’ll probably need to place another order soon. I use Deep Tan daily for my under eyes and Deep Golden when I don’t want to put foundation, but want a bit of coverage. You can’t beat the $6 price point and from what I hear it’s a dupe for some of the more expensive concealers that people consider holy grails. The formula is so creamy, but quickly dries to a matte finish and it’s perfect!
MAC Blush in ‘Raizin’ – This one is a rediscovery and I’m honestly shocked that I forgot about it. It’s the perfect blush for women of color and I find myself reaching for it more and more recently. It’s my go-to, especially for my 7-minute face.
MAC Next to Nothing setting powder in ‘Deep Dark’ – This powder is weightless, blends well and lasts all day! Those are really the only things I ask for in a setting powder and this one delivers every time. I actually prefer the powder in this line over the liquid foundation, which is saying a lot.
Nabi Eyeliner – I’d read about this eyeliner in a random blog post a while ago and hesitated a bit before making the purchase on Amazon. 12 retractable eyeliner pencils for less than $20!? It was almost too good to be true. I read the reviews and those were for the most part positive and I was convinced. I could always toss them if I didn’t like them, no love lost. BUT I LIKE THEM! They’re perfect for a tight line and I’ll never run out. They remind me of the Maybelline ‘Define a line’ liners, but so much cheaper.
NYX Matte Setting Spray – This one’s another rediscover. I’ve used it before and I really liked it so I just snagged another bottle in a recent Amazon order. It sprays in a fine mist so a little bit goes a long way, and it’s true to its word, your makeup stays matte all day!
Fenty Killawatt Highlight in ‘Moscow Mule/Ginger Binge’ – This baby has been the star of the show recently. I picked it up this past fall and reach for it on an almost daily basis. A little bit goes a long way and it picks up so well on camera! I make sure that I wear it on recording days and I always smile when the light hits my cheekbones just right and that highlight pops. It’s also super buildable and great for women of color. Pick it up y’all, you won’t regret it.
