I’m excited share this collaborative post with y’all about ways to ensure you leave a positive legacy.
We’ve talked about different feelings and self-esteem problems on this blog many times before. One of the main characteristics of someone with low self-esteem is that they’re constantly living in fear. You’re afraid of not being good enough, you’re afraid of letting people down, and you’re afraid of how people perceive you.
As a consequence, we’re often left scared at the thought of how we’ll be remembered. Will anyone think of us when we’re gone? I mean this in both a literal and metaphorical sense. At some point, yes, we all die – but how will people remember our time on earth? At the same time, what about those brief encounters we have with people on a daily basis? How do people remember you when you enter their life and the go away. Are you someone they think fondly of, or do they think of you in a negative sense?
Personally, I want to go through life with people remembering me for all the right reasons. I want people to have fond memories of me and to think of me in a positive light. You might think this is egotistical, but it’s not so much about ego at all. It’s more like, if everyone has a positive memory of you, then it proves you’re doing something right. You’re living life in the right way and having an impact on people’s lives. You’re not doing bad things and leaving a bad impression on everyone you come into contact with.
Keeping that in mind, I have a few ideas on things you can do to ensure you’re remembered by everyone for all the right reasons.
Love Your Family
People will often remember others regarding how well they treated their family. You always hear about it when someone passes away, they’re described as a loving father or mother, etc. If you don’t believe me, view Afterlife.co for more examples of obituaries, and you’ll see they all include the same thing. If you want to be remembered positively, you have to be a family person, you have to love your family and care for them with all your heart. Look after the people you love, and you’ll always leave a legacy.
Be Kind To Others
Being kind is such a simple act that can have a huge impact on other people. You never know when a small act of kindness can change someone else’s life. Something simple like smiling at a fellow pedestrian can change their mood and set their whole day on a different path. People you interact with will positively remember you if you’re always kind to everyone. On the other hand, be rude to others, and you’ll never be thought of fondly.
Make A Difference
Lastly, you can try and make a difference to other people’s lives. This is a great way to be remembered for all the right reasons. If you have a look on borgenproject.org, you’ll see lots of ways you can do this. Change someone’s life, and they’ll remember you forever.
It’s natural to live in fear of not being remembered by other people. Whether it’s in the future when you pass away, or right now when you meet different people. We want to leave a lasting impression on others and be remembered positively. Follow my advice, and you can do just that.
