**I was going to post this a while ago, but then Harvey happened so I had to hold off. Head on over to this post to read the first part of my shenanigans and check out the rest of the weekend below!**
After our tour, we popped over to a local Walmart to pick up some supplies and headed back to our hotel to get ready for the night. We had reservations at Kandi Burress and Todd Tucker’s restaurant and we didn’t want to be late. I’d seen Kandi and Todd working on the restaurant on RHOA and I’ve followed their social media posts since it opened, but it was surreal being there in person. We saw Todd’s daughter, Kaela waiting tables and Aunt Bertha and Aunt Nora were there taking pictures. OLG had a limited menu, but from the looks of it everything was delicious! I ordered the fried devilled eggs and the fried chicken with mac ‘n cheese and greens along with a whiskey mule. That bartender put their foot in my drink, because all it took was one for me to feel it. Dinner was delicious and I would definitely go back the next time I’m in town.
That evening I had drinks at our hotel bar with my cousin before going on a terrible date with a local and ended up at a hookah bar. I didn’t stay long and I immediately deleted his contact information once I made it back to the hotel. I was exhausted, both physically and mentally so we called it a night around 1AM. We slept in a bit on Saturday, so much so that I had to change our brunch reservations at Greens and Gravy. My cousin has followed the owner on social media for a while, and she told me from the jump that we had to go to his restaurant. We got dressed and headed to the hood and I just knew this food was about to be delicious! We walked in and the music was on point, the kool-aid was sweet and so was the fried chicken I ordered. In fact, I loved everything our waitress placed in front of me. I decided to stick with what I knew so I ordered fried chicken, mac ‘n cheese and greens again and it was interesting to see how different the same meal could be at two different establishments. I can’t say that one was better than the other, they were just different. I’d definitely go to both restaurants again. What I did love was the mix that was playing at Greens and Gravy. I tweeted them and asked if they had a link and whoever was running the account told me that it was their own mix. I’m going to need someone to drop that on Spotify for me, please and thank you!
After brunch, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the day party we had tickets for. Apparently those are big things in Atlanta, in fact this one was slated to last for 6 hours. I don’t have it in me to stay at a party that long, so I told my cousin we’d give it an hour or two. We had so much fun that we stayed for almost 3 hours. The drinks were priced reasonably and I stuck with beer. We were on the hunt for some Mexican food afterwards, but couldn’t find any quality restaurants so we decided to go to the Atlanta Braves Grill restaurant near our hotel. I don’t remember much about our time there other than the wings were good and I asked them to turn on the Astros game for me and the manager did it because it was my birthday weekend. As Drake says, hardly home but always reppin’.
We flew out the next day, and if you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you already know that our flight was delayed 5.5 hours. Apparently, the plane had mechanical issues, but Frontier was nothing but nice and professional about it. When they realized that it would take longer than an hour they gave us food vouchers and they even sent flight vouchers to us the next day for our inconvenience. I complained a bit on Twitter, but I have to say that Frontier went above and beyond to rectify the situation. I had to eat my words. All in all, it was a great trip and I definitely brought 29 in with a bang!
