I went to the Astros game last Friday with some of my girls from work and had a blast! We’d been planning the outing for a few weeks, and after a couple of reschedules we finally locked down a date. One of our girls has season tickets and was able to swap out a few with seatmates and all 5 of us were able to go a game together.
We started the evening out with a few appetizers and drinks at a local bar before swinging back by the office and picking up the lone ranger who had to shut the office down. We were off to the game and even found decent parking before we headed inside Minute Maid Park. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to a game, and I feel like there’s something new added to the stadium every time I go. This time was no different. They’d recently opened up the Torchy’s Tacos area and like quite a few other people we made a bee-line to that area. It was PACKED at Torchy’s!! We looked at that line and quickly said no. Luckily there were so many beer stands and electronic pay stations around so our hands weren’t empty too long. We snagged beers and then found a table to sit at for the beginning of the game.
It was ‘Star Wars’ night so the fans were clothed in a mixture of Astros gear and Jedi attire. There were fans on the field before the game started high-fiving kids and taking pictures with them. It was super cute! We sat a Torchy’s for a bit before heading towards our seats and found out bad news before we got there. The concession stands were out of buns! This meant no hot dogs, sausages or burgers until at least the 2nd inning!
We were finally able to get snacks and enjoyed most of the game. Our ‘Stros took a beating and we ended up leaving at the top of the 8th inning before the crowd got to crazy outside. I was sad that we lost, but I had a great time with my girls. We were even dubbed fans of the day by a radio sportscaster!
We decided that night that we’d have to do that again, maybe even again this season since the ‘Stros have another 100 or so games left to play.
