I feel like packing my medicine is just as important as packing my passport or proper clothing for a vacation. I keep travel-sized containers in my toiletries bag, ready to go in an instant. Now some vacations may call for additional vaccinations or other region specific meds, but these are my go-to meds that I bring on every vacation.
ZzzQuil – These are my go-to sleeping pills. I’ve been taking them for awhile, so I know just how long it takes for the medicine to kick in. These are perfect for those long-haul international flights as well as making sure you get a full night’s sleep after adjusting to a new time zone. Oh! Another pro tip, ZzzQuils are perfect for keeping you asleep if you happen to share a room with a loud snorer.
Advil – I prefer ibuprofen when it comes to pain relievers, and I’ve been taking Advils for years so I naturally lean towards throwing a small pill bottle in my luggage. A few 200mg pills can go a long way when it comes to getting rid of a headache, sore muscle and even a hangover if I go a bit too hard a brunch while in Dubai.
Alka-Seltzer – These effervescent tablets have become a life-saver as I’ve gotten older. I’ve been experiencing heartburn and indigestion a lot more these past few years, especially when trying new cuisines abroad, so I make sure that I bring a least 3 packets of Alka-Seltzer when I travel. They keep me from waking up in the middle of the night with terrible heartburn and allow me to enjoy my trip.
Mirena – Okay, so this one’s not technically a pill but I don’t go anywhere without it. This isn’t my first time blogging about my birth control (read more here and here), but I can’t stop raving about it. I don’t have to worry about ruining anymore clothes with an unexpected period, nor do I have to worry about whether a local pharmacy will have tampons in case I don’t pack enough. And the great news is that I’m good through 2020!
Chlorophyll – I started taking chlorophyll a few months ago after hearing about all of the health benefits of it. Chlorophyll helps with normal blood clotting, hormonal imbalance, it’s a natural deodorizer and promotes digestive health. I take it in pill and liquid form (as a shot with water), but I like to travel with the pills.
