I haven’t done one of these posts so this is probably long overdue. If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram you’ve probably seen some of these posts, but I thought I’d share them with the blog fam and give a bit of info behind them.
I’ve come to realize that I function a lot better when I have the chance to recharge on weekends. I’m very social and outgoing, and that takes a lot out of me so by Friday evening I’m typically drained. It’s not uncommon for me to take at least one day each weekend and just be. Whether it’s a day of lounging around the house, reading by the pool now that the weather’s nice or even just popping into a local coffee shop and writing there. I totally get the appeal of that now. Well these past few weekends have been a mix of me running at 100mph and days where I did absolutely nothing except read and veg. It’s been a blur of concerts, parties, meetings and presentations, and I enjoyed every bit of it.
I got to see two of my favorite artists and neither of them disappointed me. Chance the Rapper was in town (and I use that phrase loosely since he was technically in The Woodlands) the Sunday after Cinco de Mayo and I went to the show with one of my girls. Chance’s show was like a 2-for-1 because I also got to see ThirdStory since they were backing him up this tour. The show was amazing. So much energy, such a great vibe in the place and Chance was the epitome of #blackboyjoy. I’ve seen him perform live on award shows before, but this was my first time seeing him in person and it was so different. Hearing the band (shout out to Donnie Trumpet!) and watching them all command the stage like they did was absolutely beautiful! Not to mention the 10 minute praise and worship session. You could feel the Holy Spirit move through that venue that night and it was powerful!
I also got to see one of my other favorite artists this past Friday evening. Marc Broussard was in town (in the Heights actually) and even though I ended up going to his show by myself I had a ball with some other fans. If you follow me on Snapchat then you probably saw a few clips, and you might have even heard me singing along (slightly) off-key. Don’t judge me. My bartenders loved me that night and the whiskey was strong and delicious.
Work’s been pretty hectic these past few weeks, but I work with some pretty awesome people who seem to always know how to put a smile on my face whether it’s with dropping out new make-up goodies for me to try out or bringing me chocolate donut holes. *praise hand emoji*
Oh! I don’t know what took me so long to try sparkling mineral water but now that I have I’m hooked!! I think I’ve liked every flavor I’ve tried so far from HEB and I recently picked up a cranberry lime pack from Kroger. Those are pretty good too! They’re perfect because they give me the carbonation I crave without all of the additional stuff I don’t need.
I wish I would’ve had one when I was waiting in line at HopDoddy on Saturday night because it was so hot, but didn’t mind the heat or the wait once I sat down and got to eat. It was my first time there and I ended up getting the Hoss’ Hot chicken sandwich, fries and a Bubbly Blonde. They hit the spot and I will definitely be going back!! And it didn’t hurt that we had a gorgeous mural just outside the restaurant to look at too. Gotta love Rice Village.
