I’ve been using Spotify for years, but it wasn’t until recently that I discovered how easily you can spy on your friends on there. Like check out what they’re listening to. I’ve discovered so many new artists and songs by just checking out my feed. I’ve even had friends notice when I’m not at work because there isn’t any activity on my feed.
Well last week I was looking at my friends’ feed and saw a song that caused me to do a double take. It was “Poison” by Ernie Halter. Meg was listening to it and I trust her judgement so I clicked on the song and discovered that it was one of many tracks on his Acoustic R&B album. Yes, you read that correctly. This man has an entire album of acoustic covers of some of the best R&B tracks from the 90’s. I finished listening to “Poison” and decided to keep listening to the album. Well I made it through the whole thing twice before I sent Meg a text and asked her how she found out about the artist and album. She said that it one of the songs was on her ‘Discover Weekly’ playlist. I’d forgotten about those!! I don’t always get the best mixes so I stopped checking them out, but apparently Meg’s had better luck than me.
This album is perfect for when you want that old school vibe in the office. It’s mellow but hype at the same time and there are some really good hits on there like “Return of the Mack” and “Love No Limit”. If you’re a fan of 90’s R&B and that coffee house vibe give this album a listen. You won’t be disappointed.
