This past weekend I had my 3rd annual Friendsgiving and I have to say it was a success! It was a bit more cozy than previous ones, but I had fun and I think my guests did too. I decided to do things a bit different this year and not do a potluck, instead providing the entire dinner myself. I didn’t want to get everyone burned out on traditional Thanksgiving food so I decided on BBQ and planned my dishes from there.
We ended up having homemade sausage links, sliced beef and dirty rice from Triple J’s and as I suspected they were a hit. Triple J’s is one of those hole in wall type of BBQ joints that doesn’t look like much outside, but has some of the best BBQ you’ve ever tasted. It’s always a line in there, but things move pretty quickly and we were able to get in and out in under 20 minutes. I picked up a rotisserie chicken from Kroger’s along with potato salad, baked beans and a few desserts. I’d decided on whiskey cocktails to help me make a dent in the big bottle I’d recently received as a thank you gift and the drink of the night was Jack and Gingers. Those went over well, as well as the rum and lemonades that were requested, and we even had pickle back shots! Needless to say, no one left my place thirsty.
Another yearly tradition that we didn’t do this year was decorating my tree. I didn’t have time to take it out and get it assembled so instead we played card games. ‘Cards Against Humanity’ was the game of choice and let’s just say that if you want to learn more about a person that’s the game to play.
I wish I would’ve snapped more pictures, but I was in the middle of updating the software and restoring my new phone. I had my regular camera out, but I was having way too much fun and forgot to snap a lot of pictures with that one, so y’all will just have to take my word and know that a good time was had by all.
So what did y’all do this past weekend? Any of you go to a Friendsgiving celebration of your own? Comment below or tweet me and let me know!
