Earlier this season I told y’all that my DVR was going to be earning it’s keep now that Fall TV is back, and I meant it. With my current sleep schedule I don’t get to watch everything as it airs live, so it’s nice to know that I can catch up on weekends or via Hulu. So many of my favorite shows are back, and there are a bunch of new shows that didn’t disappoint me either. I thought I’d do a follow-up type post to my previous and let y’all know what I’m thinking now that we’ve hit the mid-way point of the season.
Sunday:
- Once Upon a Time – I’m not a big fan of this season. I might stop recording it and just binge watch the season on Netflix once it finishes.
- Quantico – This season is even better than the last! I wasn’t sure if it could be since there was just so much action last season, but they’ve stepped their game up and I’m loving the ’24’ vibe it has.
Monday:
- Kevin Can Wait – I gave this show 3 chances and I just couldn’t get into it. I cancelled the recording series.
- The Voice – I did just as I expected and stopped watching after the blind auditions. I still watch a few of the clips on Hulu, but I haven’t watched a full episode in weeks.
Tuesday:
- Bull – This show has kept me intrigued. I’m not sure if it’ll survive another season after this one, but I like the premise.
- This is Us – I LOVE THIS SHOW!! There’s a new twist every episode and they keep me coming back. I love the cast’s chemistry and the storylines. Oh, and they weave back and forth between the times so easily.
- Atlanta – Another really good show! I’m loving how each show is from the perspective of each different character.
Wednesday:
- Blindspot – This is another one that’s had better seasons. There are quite a few romantic relationships this season, some completely unnecessary, and at times I feel like they’re doing too much with the season. As if they know it’ll be cancelled after this season.
- SVU – This show never disappoints. Ever.
- Chicago PD – Another show that hasn’t disappointed me yet.
- Black-ish – This season has been hilarious, and I’m happy that Charlie is back. Plus, Bow’s brother is hilarious.
- Empire – They went from having a million and one storylines going on at once, to having one really boring one. Plus, Rhonda died but she’s back as a ghost?
- Queen Sugar – THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD! I can’t recommend it enough.
- Younger – This show has seen better seasons, but Josh is fine and I’m tempted to know how things are going to turn out when Liza reveals her true age to her co-workers.
- Designated Survivor – Keifer Sutherland has done it again. This show is really good!
- Lethal Weapon – I’m on the fence about this show. Damon Waynes is hilarious, and they have pretty good cast chemistry, but this is a show that I can binge watch when the season’s over.
Thursday:
- The Blacklist – Keen found her father and he stole her baby. Umm, what? There’s so much going on this season but it’s pretty good.
- How to get Away with Murder – Shonda really knows how to keep us coming back. I think she’s going to keep us coming back every season by killing someone different at the top of the season.
- Notorious – This show reminds me of ‘Being Mary Jane’, but not quite as woke. It’s good, but think this will be a one-seasoner.
- Pitch – This show actually surprised. I’m not a big baseball fan, but I find myself watching this show every week. See Ginny every week (even in this fictional setting) gives me hope that Monet Davis might be able to join the big leagues when she’s older.
- The Good Place – This show had every component of being good, but it just didn’t click. I stopped watching it weeks ago.
Friday:
- MacGyver – This was another one that had the potential to be good, but it just isn’t working for me.
There were a few shows I didn’t mention in the last post that I’ve started watching, ‘Code Black’ (this season’s off to a strong start and I’m loving all of the new faces), ‘Frequency’ (the exact same premise as the movie but with a female cop), ‘Insecure’ (Issa Rae is a genius) and ‘Westworld’ (another good HBO show). Let’s just say that I’m happy I have Hulu and a DVR because Fall TV this year has been killing the game. What about y’all? Are there any shows that have impressed you this season? Any shows that you thought were going to be good, but turned out not to be? Any shows that shocked you with how good they are? Comment below or reach out on Twitter and let me know!
[…] I’ve blogged about ‘Insecure’ before, but I wanted to share one of my favorite parts of the series with y’all today. Issa and her team are absolute geniuses. The show is relatable, deals with real issues and entertains us one 30 minute episode at a time. […]
