Happy Labor Day everyone! Right now I’m relaxing at home since the office is closed, but I wanted to take some time and let y’all know why this holiday is needed and necessary. What started off as a day of recognition of the hard work union members have done and a day of relaxation for them has become a way to honor the social and economic achievements of all American workers.
I’m blessed to be part of a generation that understands that we don’t have to have a traditional occupation to be successful and to better society and this nation. Yes, we know that doctors, lawyers, educators, service men and women are still awesome career fields, but we know that artists (performance, visual and musical), athletes, tech gurus and social media entrepreneurs are just as integral to this society.
So whether you’re a member of a union, work in the medical field, the educational field, a tech start-up, in the commercial real estate industry like me or one of the million other industries I want to thank you for the integral part you’ve played in making our country what it is. We might not be perfect, but we’re working towards that and we’re working together to reach that goal.
So take some time out to rest and relax today. Today might be ‘Labor Day’, but it’s supposed to be a day of no labor.
