Today is the first day of school for many students (and teachers) in Houston. School buses are back on the road, which means more traffic. After-school activities, football practices, band practices, cheerleading, dance, etc is starting back up again and I’m excited. In this current space in my life I’m an outsider looking in, seeing all the posts on social media and blog posts from blogger mommies, but I still get that tingle of excitement as I see all of the school buses trekking down the highway to their respective schools.
I remember the excitement and first day of school jitters I used to get in grade school. New clothes, school supplies, teachers, classes it can be overwhelming and thrilling at the same time. I don’t have kids yet, but I plan on adopting school-aged children when I do become a mother so I be thrown head first into this rodeo. For the time being I’m an aunt to 5 kids so I get to experience their back to school celebrations. My oldest nugget is starting second grade, I have two going to kindergarten, one in pre-K and the final one is about to be 2. Either way, whether they’re going to elementary or not this is an exciting time for them. All of the kids love learning and the start of the Fall semester means that they’ll be doing more of that.
This also means that my friends who work in the education field are back in the office, per say. They got to enjoy their summer, spending the month and a half to two months relaxing or working a part-time gig. Most of my friends took the time off and traveled and relaxed, knowing that they wouldn’t get to do much of that once the school semester started.
What about y’all? Between the lifestyle bloggers who are teachers, mommies, students or maybe a combination of two or even all three I’m sure y’all are excited about this time of year. What are you most exicted about? Comment below or reach out to me on Twitter and Facebook and let me know!
Oh and if you’re sending your kiddos off to school today you should consider packing these delicious snacks in their lunch boxes. I babysat two of my nuggets this past weekend and they couldn’t get enough of the chocolate macaroon bites; they ate half the bag!
