If you follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat you’ve probably seen outtakes from my birthday. I turned 28 last Tuesday and practically celebrated all week. I don’t usually work on my birthday, but I did this year and I’m happy I did. Between well wishes, sweet treats, cards, meals and drinks my co-workers made my birthday week one for the books. My friends and family didn’t disappoint either. Phone calls, dinners, lunches, brunches, Facetimes and more! I truly felt the love and appreciation last week.
I knew that I wanted to keep things a bit low-key this year. Last year my birthday was on a weekend and we partied it up like we were kids again. Breakfast and then a day of laser tag, go-karts and mini golf followed by brunch at the Galleria. The only things I planned this year were my happy hour and brunch, both at two of my favorite places.
Whiskey was the drink of the night on Thursday. I stuck with Moscow Mules made with Jameson instead of vodka and we even did whiskey pickle back shots. So good!! Then there was another shot that tasted like a grape Jolly Rancher, but I can’t remember the name of it now.
(hey whiskey shots)
I’m happy I made reservations at both places because between the rain and the heat I wasn’t prepared to sit outside. Benjy’s is always packed on Sundays, especially for brunch, but they never disappoint with the food. What I love about them is that they have something for everyone. My baby sister doesn’t eat red meat anymore and has cut back on a few other things, but she had not problem finding something on their menu. Plus their mimosas are so delicious!
Last week was truly one for the books, and I want to thank everyone who reached out and wished me happy birthday!!
