Lately it’s felt like my look wasn’t complete without lipstick and I’ve been rotating through my favorite ones. ColourPop has had some pretty amazing sales recently and I’ve bought like 17 from them. I’m one of those ladies who wears a full face of makeup to work daily, and I apply everything except my lipstick before I leave my house. This means that I’m usually picking out a lipstick at my desk after I finish my breakfast. I got the cutest Vera Bradley jewelry case for Christmas from a client a few years back and I’ve been using that to store my favorite lip products so I’ll pull that out and pick out the ColourPop lippie I want to wear that day. Honest moment, I have like 12 ColourPop lipsticks, 2 lip balms/primers and maybe 3 other MAC or Lorac lipsticks in there. So there’s a really good chance I’m wearing a liquid lipstick on a daily basis. Colour Pop has so many colors to choose from and it was really hard narrowing down the colors I wanted to buy, but I find myself reaching for the same 6 time and time again.
Panda – This vampy burgundy comes off more maroon on me, and while that typically translates to it being a Fall or Winter shade I’ve reached for it quite a few times this Spring and now Summer. It’s perfect for when I want something a little darker on my lips. It’s a satin finish so it stays on all day, little transference when I drink something or kiss someone and it’s not as drying as the matte lipsticks.
Bumble – It’s like my lips but better. A great pink-y nude that works on so many skin tones. What I love about these liquid lippies from Colour Pop is that they look different on different people and the company is aware fo that so they make sure that they have women from different ethnicities swatching each shade on their site. It’s brilliant and I don’t know why more beauty companies don’t do this. This one is a matte finish, stays on all day, no transference when I drink something or kiss someone.
Kae (with Echo Park dabbed in the middle) – This is from their collaboration with Karrueche (yeah, Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend) and I was hesitant about getting a true brown lipstick. It felt very 90’s to me and I wasn’t sure how it would look on me. I knew that it was a popular shade now and decided to give it a go, it was only $6 (actually it was on sale so it was less than $5) and if I didn’t like I could always give it away. Well I loved it and I pull out that combo when I want a dark nude lip. ‘Kae’ is a matte lipstick and ‘Echo Park’ is a satin lipstick.
Brooklyn – Bold, bright hot pink and perfect for the Spring and Summer. I wear this with a neutral eye and let it steal the show. This one’s a satin finish.
More Better – A matte deep violet wine that isn’t that dark on me. I actually wore this one like twice last week and it’s a good one for Summer for my skin tone.
I found myself staying in the purple, pink and red families with quite a few of my ColourPop lippies, but I did branch out and get a 3 nude lipsticks. I even convinced friends and co-workers to try out the line!
I can’t recommend Colour Pop enough! If you’re a lipstick lover, but haven’t made the decision to try liquid (matte or satin) lipsticks yet you should definitely give them a try. Their lippies are $6 or less and they’re always have specials and coupons available. So many colors to choose from, mattes that last all day and aren’t too drying and satins just in case you don’t like the matte look but want something that will last all day. You really don’t have anything to lose.
