Favorite Podcasts

I know I talk about music a lot on this blog, but I’m a huge fan of podcasts too!  Sometimes I actually favor podcasts to music if I’m having a particularly long day at work.  It makes the day go by faster and depending on the podcast I’m either rolling in laughter or caught up in the story that I don’t mind entering 45 line contracts.  I’m not sure if y’all are in to them, but if you aren’t here are few that you should check out.

 

The Read – I’ve been listening to this podcast since it debuted 3 years ago!  I was a fan of Kid Fury before he started the podcast, so it was only natural for me to tune in to his new venture.  Crissle won me over instantly and I’ve even gone to see them when they did a live show here in Houston.  They have a pop culture podcast, but they also touch on other thought provoking topics.

 

The Friend Zone – I actually started listening to this podcast because of Dustin and Assante and their guest spots on The Read as well as their attendance at the live shows.  I love that this podcast touches on mental health as well as other pop culture topics.  Mental health isn’t something that’s discussed often in the Black community and I feel like this podcast has served as a way to start those conversations.

 

Serial – I feel like everyone has been talking about this podcast.  This podcast sucked me in from the beginning.  It’s one of the ones that I wish I had time to listen to weekly so I’ll binge a few episodes at a time and not realize how much time has passed until I’ve caught up.  For those of you who don’t know it follows a crime (a true crime) over the course of a season and we as readers get to follow the plot and characters.

 

#Millennial – I’ve actually been listening to the team that puts on this podcast since ‘Mugglecast’ (all true HP fans out there know what I’m talking about).  Then came ‘Imprint’ which was a ‘Twilight’ podcast, so it was only right to follow them when they started the #Millennial podcast.  This is another pop culture one, but it’s nice to hear their thoughts and opinions about the goings on of the world and it’s always good to hear familiar voices.

 

I randomly listen to episodes of a few other podcasts, but these are the ones I’m currently subscribed to.  Are there any good ones I’m missing?  Comment below or email me with your suggestions!
