J. Cole dropped a live album last week on his birthday. It was the set of his most recent tour, a tour I didn’t get the chance to see live and that’s something I regret. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him live before those were experiences I’ll never forget. He has the crazy energy every time he’s on stage and he really connects with the audience, with his fans. J. Cole is one of my favorite rappers, he along with Drake, Wale and Kendrick Lamar are members of the new class of rappers who have come out not afraid to speak their truths. They weren’t afraid to say that they went to school, went to college and excelled, didn’t really start from the bottom but closer to the middle, love their women and aren’t afraid to say it. They make socially conscious music that this generation needs and I love them for that.
I wanted to share this album with y’all today, and if you’ve seen J. Cole live then I hope you’re instantly transported back to that show and you vibe out like I did at work the morning it was released. If you haven’t seen him live I hope this album pushes you to buy tickets to his next show. Either way, I hope you enjoy the album.
