I want to give you guys fair warning before I start this post. I’m not a makeup guru, nor do I claim to be one, but I feel like I’ve mastered my perfect neutral look. This is the look I wear most days to work and even on weekends if I don’t have anything special going on.
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation (shown in ‘Caramel’) – I heard about this holy grail from Whitney back when she was blogging (I miss her little nuggets of wisdom). This is the best drugstore foundation, in my opinion. It’s formulated specifically for photos so you don’t look ashen in flash photography, but it’s so much more than that. It’s full coverage, but it doesn’t feel too thick or cakey. My only qualm with it is the new formula that makes me resemble a Cullen if I don’t wear a powder.
Revlon Nearly Naked Powder (shown in ‘Medium Deep’) – I’ve been pairing this powder with the PhotoReady foundation for a while now. I used to alternate between this and Maybelline’s FitMe powder, but I feel like ‘Nearly Naked’ works best. I’m not a fan of the dewy look, and this powder helps mattify my look.
MAC blush in ‘Raizin’ – I feel like I can’t sing enough praises for this blush. It’s the perfect blush for WOC! I just hit pan and I’ll definitely be re-purchasing. It gives me just enough color and can be worn year round.
ELF Golden Bronzer – I do one swirl to get a bit of all four colors and swipe a bit on my cheek, just enough to give me that bronze glow.
MAC eyeshadow in ‘Embark’ – This is the color I use to fill in my brow. I haven’t mastered the gel process, and I have pretty thick brows but they need a bit of shaping and filling in. This eyeshadow is perfect for that for me.
ELF Smudge Pot in ‘Brownie Points’ – This is a new stapleā¦like brand new. I picked this up in a Dollar Tree two weeks ago and I don’t know how I’ve lived without it this long. I love that I can wear it by itself or use it with one of the other two shadows coming up to give me a neutral golden-y look. It’s easy and looks great on me.
ELF Baked Eyeshadow in ‘Toasted’ or Sephora Outrageous Metallic Eyeshadow in ‘Metallic Peach’ – Don’t be turned off by the name of the Sephora shadow, it’s more golden than peach. I pair these with the smudge pot (which ever one I grab that morning) and put a bit on my lower lashes and in my corners.
ELF Expert Liquid Liner in ‘Black’ – I recently got into liquid liner on my lids and this bad boy is a god send. It’s super easy to use, goes on smoothly and lasts all day! Plus it’s only a dollar! You can’t beat that with a stick.
Maybelline ‘The Falsies Push Up Drama’ Mascara – this is also another recent holy grail and another purchase due to a blogger recommendation. I saw a few social media posts from Helene and thought that she had on falsies because her lashes looked so long and full of volume. I almost didn’t believe her when she said that it was this mascara, but I rushed to the store and picked up a tube. She wasn’t lying, this stuff is AMAZING! The first day I wore it my co-workers asked if I had on falsies! The product does exactly what it says it’s supposed to do and it lasts all day. I love it!
Wow, listing all of this out seems like a lot but I promise it’s not. I’ve mastered my 10 minute face, in fact it’s only 5 minutes if I don’t put on eyeliner and mascara! Do y’all wear makeup every day? Any products that you think are “holy grails” and that you always reach for? Comment below and let me know.
