This year’s Halloween was definitely one for the books, so much so that I learned a few life lessons during it.
I’ve been taking the wrong route to Dallas all these years! Apparently there’s a shortcut that allows us to skip the mess that is I-45N leaving Houston. We made great time getting into town, even with all that rain in Dallas.
Dunnies exist. No, not a toilet for my Aussies out there. The dunnie we saw was crossing the street in a small town. It all happened in slow-motion (for me at least), a deer was crossing the street and Millican didn’t see it. I couldn’t form the word deer and ended up screaming. After explaining that I saw a deer Millican asked if I was sure it wasn’t a bunny; and the dunnie was born. She said that she just saw a white blur and that it could’ve been a bunny. Janay made a comment about it being a dunnie. That’s been a running joke between us since Friday night and whenever the word is said hearty laughter follows.
Nexgen manicures are awesome. After a night of drinks and pizza a day of pampering was necessary so Saturday we had breakfast at a quaint cafe, coffee at Starbucks, did a bit of shopping and ended up a nail salon. It’d been a while since I had a pedicure, and I usually do my own nails at home but I wanted to treat myself. I’d originally chosen a gel polish, but after the recommendation of a nail tech I ended up getting a Nexgen dipped manicure. I don’t know what the name of the color is but it’s a deep burgundy with subtle shimmer and I love it! It’s supposed to last 3 weeks, and is supposed to be easier to remove than the regular gel manicure. The price point at that salon was great, and I’m trying to find a salon in Houston that does them. If anyone has any recommendations let me know!
If you’re going to go out for Halloween, do it with friends. I don’t think this one needs much explanation.
Oh and next year I’m going to let my co-worker make my costume again next year. It was a last minute choice, but it worked out wonderfully! I was able to scoop some ears up on Amazon and Cat made my skirt.
Chef Curry with the pot, boy!

There were so many Quail men out that night

See, another Quail Man!
The first red cup of the season on November 1st are a must. I had a white chocolate mocha on my way home yesterday and I had to share it on Instagram.
What did y’all get into over the Halloween weekend, anything fun? Comment below and let me know!

Minnie Mouse, you looked so cute! Looks like you had a blast! And hello, red cup — I can't wait to get my red cup in a few weekends. No Starbucks in my town!
