Happy Fall y’all! I know it officially started yesterday, but I didn’t get around to mentioning that on this little space of mine. I love doing these ‘Five Things Friday’ posts, they’re always a nice way to wrap up my week with things that I might have shared on other forms of social media, but not necessarily here.
Concert on Saturday: If you follow me on Instagram & Snapchat you probably saw the million and one videos I posted on Saturday and Sunday of the concert I went to Saturday night. One of my favorite bands was playing in Stafford so I grabbed a few girlfriends and my cousin, got all dolled up and we went out and had a good time.
The C.I.T.Y. (the band we saw) has a saying in which they “don’t perform” they “party” and that statement couldn’t be more true. I always have a great time at their shows and that night was no exception.
Fake lashes: So…when I said I got dolled up on Saturday I mean that I wore fake lashes for the first time. My cousin put them on me that night, but with her help I was able to figure out how to put them on myself and even wore them 3 days this week!
Of course I didn’t take a serious selfie to show y’all my lash skills.
My cousin gave me the pair I have on in that picture and they give me amazing volume and length (something my natural lashes lack) but they look pretty natural on me. I also bought two more pairs of lashes that give me loads of volume. I’m converted!
Fall TV: It’s back and I’m so excited! I texted my friend the other day and told her that my DVR will be earning it’s keep this fall and sent her this screenshot.
So many shows started back this week and I can already tell that I’ll be spending Saturday mornings curled up with a mug of coffee and my remote control.
Luvvie’s Empire Watch Party: Speaking of Fall tv, I attended an Empire season 2 premiere hosted by one of my favorite bloggers, Luvvie from Awesomely Luvvie. I’ve been following her blog for years and when I saw that she was going to be in town hosting that event it seemed like I couldn’t get tickets fast enough. The event was right up the street from my job and I had a few girlfriends go with me.
I got to meet Luvvie and it was like I was seeing a friend after a long time apart. She’s the sweetest and so hilarious!
I was taking a picture in front of the selfie wall and Luvvie just jumped in! I told y’all, she’s like my cousin now!
I’d never been to a watch party for Empire before, but I had a blast! I looked around the room and saw people reacting the same way I did and even saw people live-tweeting! Rosa Regale sponsored the event and had signature cocktails as well as the most delicious hors d’oeuvres! I had a ‘Lyon’s Roar’ and cannot remember for the life of me what was in it other than their sparkling red wine and Hennessy, but it was good! After the show Luvvie had a mini contest to give away 10 bottles of Rosa Regale’s sparkling red wine and the first 6 bottles went to people with leopard on (Cookie’s favorite print). I had on leopard shoes, but didn’t make the cut. I was kind of bummed until she said the last few bottles were going to members of LuvvNation. She asked us what color she called Chris Brown’s blue sweater that he wore on the interview he did with Larry King after the incident with Rihanna and none of us could remember that so she asked a question referencing this tweet:
I said Ava’s name so fast and won! I don’t think I even gave anyone else a chance to fully process the question. I’ll be opening this bottle this weekend either tonight or at the book club meeting I’m hosting at my place tomorrow.
Book Club Meeting: So as you read above I’m hosting this month’s book club meeting at my house. This will be the first time I’ve ever done it and I’m not sure what all I should have/do. I wasn’t a big fan of this month’s choice, but we’ll have to discuss it as a group. Other than wine, what else should I have out to help ease the pain of discussing ‘A Million Little Pieces’? I’m open to all suggestions.
