I’m sure by now y’all have heard about the terrorist attack in Charleston, and yes I said terrorist attack because that’s what it was. I’m so tired y’all. I’m tired of hearing about something like this happening at least once a month. I’m tired of it being constantly thrown in our faces that Black lives don’t matter when they should. I’m angry and tired and I don’t know what else to do but pray.
Pray for Charleston.
Pray for Emanul AME.
Pray for the families of the 9 people who were murdered by that terrorist.
Pray for the child who had to ‘play dead’ to survive.
Pray for those non-minority people who say that five years old is too young to explain to a child what racism is; that child just learned first-hand.
Pray for brave souls at HuffPost who had this on the homepage, calling a spade a spade and not going the typical route media takes in situations like this.
Pray for swift justice for the murderer.
Pray for the day when a terrorist who gunned down 9 people isn’t carted away to a squad car without handcuffs and in a bullet-proof vest while an unarmed black man/woman/teenager/child is man-handled with a knee to their back.
Pray for the day when a white person’s mental stability isn’t the first thing mentioned in situations like this.
…or the fact that he/she might have “friends” who are the same race they just murdered.
…or that he/she is called a gunman or shooter.
…or anything else on this bingo card.
I pray that this is the last incident, but I know that it won’t be because at the end of the day people don’t agree that #BlackLivesMatter. They instead go around shouting #AllLivesMatter, which should be is true but isn’t. People don’t give a damn about Black lives and it’s shown every few weeks when there’s another shooting, beating, manslaughter due to aggressive arrest, etc.
I pray for the day where I won’t be told to no to be angry about situations like this, to be peaceful, talk to God, go to church…but wait, I can’t pray there because that sanctuary is no longer safe.
