One of my best friends posted the link for this article and it really got me thinking. Too often I find myself uttering the words “I’m sorry” out of habit, but that’s all going to change. My list is a bit shorter than 15, but here are some things that I’m not sorry about.
1. I’m not sorry for not wanting a room mate. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not knocking anyone who does but I know that that’s not the best situation for me. I like my alone time and love that my apartment is my place for me to have that when I want to get away from the world for a bit.
2. I’m not sorry for wanting alone time. I am an extrovert with introvert tendencies. Being around people gives me life, but every now and then I need a day to myself to recharge.
3. I’m not sorry for making the decision to adopt instead of giving birth to my children. No, as far as I know there’s nothing wrong my with reproductive organs, and yes they will be my real children.
4. I’m not sorry that I express my inner tech geek and music buff. I am a gadget girl and band nerd, and find life in learning new things. I’m not going to hide that for anyone, especially not a guy.
5. I’m not sorry for my career decision. Yes, I know I studied Criminal Justice and I’m working in Commercial Real Estate now.
6. I’m not sorry for the decisions I’ve made regarding my sex life and history. No, I didn’t wait until marriage and no I don’t regret a single thing. I’m an adult and I have a healthy and safe sex life with other consenting adults.
7. To back door that, I’m not sorry that I’m single. I’m dating, but I’m not on the hunt for a boyfriend or husband right now. No biological clock here.
8. I’m not going to apologize for my curves. Period.
9. I’m not going to apologize for saying “no” and not giving an explanation. I don’t have to accept every invitation and I don’t owe anyone an explanation why I’m turning it down.
10. I’m not sorry that I don’t post on here every day. I wish I could, but the way things are now I really don’t have the time. I know how the old saying goes, “you make time for the things you want to make time for” and I will make an effort to post more on here.
