I didn’t get the chance to watch the Whitney movie when it first aired on Lifetime, but I recorded it and was not prepared for what it turned out to be. Discussions began on this movie last year and there were people for and against it being made. Questions about whether her drug use would be shown, as well as her tumultuous relationship with Bobby Brown would be showcased. Well lets just say that the movie should’ve been called “Whitney and Bobby” since it was essentially just about their relationship. It started at their first meeting and ended on their first separation. Whitney’s family made it known publicly that they weren’t endorsing the movie and after seeing it I can see why. It portrayed a different Whitney than we were accustomed to seeing. She wasn’t America’s sweetheart in this movie, she was a druggie who turned to cocaine during stressful moments and Bobby Brown was made to look like a good guy. I found out that she started using drugs well before she met Bobby and that she was pregnant while filming some of ‘The Bodyguard’! I actually live-tweeted the movie and wanted to share those with y’all, but I first wanted to recognize Angela Bassett for the good work she did in her directorial debut and I wanted to give Deborah Cox her props. Angela had permission to use Whitney’s music, but not her voice and Deborah Cox stole the show every time she sang!
Now, without further adieu here are my real time thoughts about the movie.
Did y’all see the movie? What did you think?

I didn't watch a single minute of it. Now I kind of wish I had. I'll have to look and see when it's going to be on again.
