So we’ve all heard the phrase “you never stop learning”, right? Well it’s true. About a month ago I started feeling really nostalgic of my undergrad days and had the itch to sign up for a few classes. Well, classes tend to equal money and a set schedule (unless they’re strictly online classes) and I knew that that wouldn’t necessarily work for me. I didn’t have the room in my budget to spend $1500 or so to take a few classes for a semester at one of our local colleges and I didn’t necessarily want to do that anyway. I guess I was leaning more towards proctoring a class and that’s when I stumbled upon Coursera.
I want you guys to know that this is in no way a sponsored post, I just love the program that much. I did CJ with a focus of Psychology in undergrad and grad school so I really didn’t take that many law courses. I didn’t want to go into that field and didn’t want to spend money on those courses. Well thanks to Coursera I’m able to take 2 classes completely online for free! Most of the courses they offer are just for your knowledge. You’ll get a certificate stating that you’ve completed the course, but no college credit. But there are a few certified programs that you pay for and get various certifications. They even offer a Project Management certification! If I planned on staying in this field I’d definitely take it!
I’m currently enrolled in a Surveillance Law course and it runs for six weeks. I’m on week two of it and I like it so far. Like other online classes I’ve taken in the past, I’m allowed to move at my own pace with lectures as long as I have all of my quizzes and classwork submitted in on time. I have Intro to American Law coming up in March and I know it seems backwards, taking Surveillance Law before Intro to American Law but hey that’s how it was offered. These courses are taught by actual professors at actual universities across the world. In fact, my Surveillance Law professor works at Stanford!
Like I said, this isn’t a sponsored post but if you get that urge to take a course (or two…three…five) check Coursera out!

I've heard of Coursera, but I've never checked it out. Sounds like I need to!
