It’s time for my annual trip to Toronto to see some of my favorite people and go to Drake’s annual OVO Fest concerts. This year I decided to fly directly (with a layover each way) to Toronto, versus flying to Buffalo and catching a bus to Toronto from there. For me its better in the long run, shorter customs line and I don’t have to wait on a bus. I’ve done that before, and while it was fairly easy and cheaper that wait at BUF for the next Megabus seemed like it lasted forever. There aren’t that many buses that take that route on a daily basis so I have to time my flight just right in order for me not to have to wait 3 hours for the next bus. I’m bypassing all that this time.
My flight today leaves Houston at 1pm and I have a quick layover in Tampa before heading to Toronto. I know, you’re probably thinking the same thing I am. Why do I have to go down to go up? I don’t know, but I’m gonna rock with it because it gets me in Toronto by 8:30pm (they’re on East Coast time) and that’s plenty of time for me to get ready to go out that night with everyone! Now to the important stuff.
Travel essentials! In addition to my luggage and other necessities some of these items will be in either my backpack or tote (whichever I decide to travel with) for quick access and others will be on my body. I prefer to travel in yoga pants and a loose top or tank top in the summer time, not much jewelry and very little makeup. I usually wear flats since they’re so easy to slip off during security and mid-flight. Socks are a must so I don’t have to walk on that floor by TSA barefoot and for when I slip off my shoes mid-flight. I don’t want my little piggies getting cold.
It might be hot as Hades here in town, but it’s cooler up north and it’s definitely gonna be chilly on the flight so I usually pack a hoodie or pullover for the flight. Since I’ll be travelling for OVO fest it’s only fitting that I bring my OVO pullover; it looks like the one I have pictured above but it’s purple.
Now for in-flight entertainment. Spotify Premium has saved by behind before and it’s going to do it again for these flights! I know I’m always rantingandraving about Spotify, but it really is the bees knees! I’ve downloaded a few playlists for me to listen to in the offline mode with noise cancelling headphones (a must when there are children on a flight) while I’m in the air and I have my Kindle loaded up with books to keep me entertained. I’m currently reading the ‘Matched’ series by Ally Condie, and I like to keep it light while I’m flying. I typically fall asleep as soon as we’re in the sky and I want to be able to put a put a book down without feeling guilty and having the urge to finish it in that sitting.
What about you guys? What are some of your absolute must haves while travelling?
