I was walking upstairs to my apartment yesterday after work and heard Andy Grammer’s “Keep Your Head Up” coming from the pool area and couldn’t help but smile. First, that life is going pretty well right now and secondly that it’s such a good song. Andy’s one of those underrated artists who shouldn’t be. He’s very talented and I love his music. I have to thank Gavin DeGraw for bringing him on tour back in 2012 and introducing me to Andy and his music. I know I mentioned Andy briefly on the blog before, an initial post on seeing him with Gavin, and a few other mentions, but I think it’s time he got a post of his own.
To me he could be the musical love child of Gavin DeGraw, Justin Timberlake and Jason Mraz. Andy’s music just has the ability to put me in a happy place and it was the perfect soundtrack for my commute in to work this morning. He’s only released one album, his self-titled one back in 2011, but he dropped an EP last year and I’m hoping that that’s not the last we’ll hear from him.
Here’s the Spotify playlist of his self-titled album. Take a listen.
The entire album is really good, but if you only have time to hear a few tracks I recommend “Keep Your Head Up”, “The Pocket”, “Slow” and “Biggest Man in Los Angeles”.
