This week’s Tuneage Tuesday is going to be a different than previous installments. I usually feature a song or artist that I’m really into at that moment, but this week I decided to go with a theme.
Money.
Spotify actually announced today that they were offering Spotify Premium at half price for college students in the US! Apparently they’ve had this in the UK for a year, and it’s finally available stateside. I took advantage of this and signed up for Spotify Premium for $5.40. Yay for no more commercials and being able to listen to my playlists offline. They’re lowering prices while Pandora is increasing theirs.
I don’t use Pandora often, maybe a few times a year on my Roku at home when I don’t feel like docking my iPod or using my tablet to stream music via Spotify so this announcement doesn’t really affect me. In fact, I was shocked to hear that there’s a large audience out there that it does affect. I started using Spotify ages ago and have even turned my office on to it. It has a free and paid option, and has better features available in their free option than Pandora does. Both free options have commercials, but Spotify lets you listen to whatever song you want to listen to, the library is huge, and you can even make playlists when you download the program on your computer. They offer the same option for tablets, but it’s a bit more restricted for the mobile app. The mobile app allows you to listen to your playlists but only in shuffle mode and like Pandora there are only so many skips you can do an hour.
I personally recommend Spotify, both free and paid versions since they cut the price in half for students and I wanted to share a few of my money related songs.
*I was in no way compensated for this post, I just really like Spotify*

I'm a huge spotify lover! Now only if they picked up beyonce's new album…
