This is when you know you’ve watched too many episodes of SVU
Monday morning I woke up with a start because I thought I had been shot in the neck. I really have to stop going to sleep with episodes of SVU playing on my TV. I had a dream that I was on Olivia’s new squad and while trying to rescue a victim from her pimp I was shot in the neck.
At some point I wasn’t even myself, I was Det. Amanda Rollins. This actually shocked me because I thought I’d be Olivia if I was anyone. I have nothing against Rollins, but she’s a newbie and I feel like my subconscious should know that I embody Olivia and not Amanda.
Fun fact: I actually interned with Houston PD’s Juvenille Sex Crimes unit and for some reason I went in thinking that it was going to be like SVU. I know, I know silly me. But I really did think that we’d be busting perps (and we did, but not as eloquently as Olivia and Stabler), and I definitely didn’t think we’d be going on search warrants as early in the morning as we did. That’s not the stuff they show you on TV. C’mon Dick Wolf! Why not show that part?
That was my face when I was told that I had to be at the station at 4AM.
Anywho! I don’t know about you guys, but I look forward to #SVUesdays and #SVUSundays on USA. I’m at the point now that I can tell which episode it is based on the first two minutes of it. I even “read” the perps their rights whenever an arrest is made.
Please don’t tell me that I’m the only one still obsessed with this show 13 years later. I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t sure how things were going to be once Olivia took over, especially after her incident with her captor, but I think she’s doing a good job. I feel like Cragen’s departure should’ve triggered a reboot of some sort since the only people who are still there from the beginning are Fin and Olivia.
I know that the characters aren’t supposed to stick around forever, but I really need Stabler to come back…and Huang. What about you guys? Any favorite episodes? Characters? Storylines?
