I know that I tend to start posts like this with an apology for not having posted anything in awhile, but I’m not going to do that this time. Life has been pretty hectic recently and I haven’t really had time to just sit down and blog about it until now so this post is probably going to be a smorgasbord of stuff.
First: Thanksgiving
I’ve been excited about spending the holiday in Philly with friends since we decided that’s that what was going to happen and the trip didn’t disappoint. Here’s a few pics from the trip.
I landed on Weds evening after being delayed about an hour and went to PYT for dinner. I got the Thanksgivin’ Dinner Burger.
Yum!!!
They were passing out free samples of Mama Walker’s liquor shots which were delicious and I even got a picture the bacon guy.
I didn’t get many pictures on Thursday. I actually forgot to get a picture of me in my outfit (but I think my friend Megan got a picture…I might have to hound her for it), but I got a picture of this lovely lady.
Meg was in charge of cocktails for Turkey Day and I think that’s why I didn’t get any pictures of my plate(s). I’d downed a glass and a half of vodka cranberry & blueberry before we started appetizers. I remember everything was delicious though. Blake did a great job!!
Friday was actually terrible for me. I went to Philly with a cold and the cold weather up there didn’t help. I ended up staying in the hotel room sick all day. But I got to venture out on Saturday. We went to Sabrina’s for breakfast and to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Here are a few of my favorite pieces
We even ventured out to the King of Prussia mall for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory.
I had an early flight back home on Sunday and even made it back without too much of a delay, but I got some news that hit me hard on my first layover.
My Aunt Mary who’d been battling skin cancer for the past 11 months passed away last Sunday morning. Her girls were by her side so she was surrounded with love. She was one of the strongest women I ever knew and was a prominent mother figure in my life. She’d been sent home recently with hospice nurses after the chemo stopped working, so we were preparing for it but still weren’t fully ready.
I know that she’s in heaven with my mom smiling down on me and looking after me and that she’s no longer in pain.
