This week’s questions are career oriented!!
1. What’s your dream job?
A federal agent! I want to work for the DEA in their Organized Crime unit. I have no desire to be a field agent and plan on using the Psychology part of my degree to persuade them to let me gather data, compile evidence and interrogate POIs.
2. If you had just won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
First, I’d pay off my current student loans and still finish school. Criminal Psychology is a passion of mine and I would still want to work for the DEA. Either that or just stay in school and earn my Doctorate so I could just be an expert witness for the rest of my life.
3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’ve always been good with computers and used to tell people that I wanted to be the female version of Bill Gates when I grew up. That all changed in 2001 when I saw my first episode of CSI and Law & Order: SVU.
4. What piece of career advice would you give someone who is just starting out in your field?
I’m currently a receptionist for a real estate company, not the most complicated job in the world but it pays the bills and for the things I want. As far as criminology goes, have tough skin. I did my undergrad intern at our local PD in the Juvenile Sex Crimes Unit and it was definitely reiterated that I had to have tough skin. The criminal justice field isn’t the prettiest of all professions to get into and if you’re not prepared for it it’ll run you away.
5. What are your biggest pet peeves in life, blogging, or at work?
Act your friggin’ age! Leave the petty stuff at home, don’t bring it to work with you. Also, if you don’t finish all the time on the microwave, hit ‘Stop’ again and clear it. It really grinds my gears when I see time sitting there on the microwave. Oh! And the ‘golden rule’ is the way to live people. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
6. What are your biggest fears?
According to my therapist I have a huge fear of the unknown. I actually agree with her on that. I have plans on plans on plans for just about everything because I want to leave nothing to chance. Call me silly, call me naive, whatever.
Hope y’all didn’t mind my rambling and that you enjoy your Sunday!!
