I’m not sure if you guys know this, but I didn’t really get into nail polish until last year. It might seem like it’s been longer because of how quickly my collection grew, but it’s really only been a year. I’ve worn quite a few brands over the course of this year, beauty supply, drugstore and high end brands, but one of the ones that I never wore was Zoya. I don’t know why I never took advantage of their sales until last month, but I’m happy I finally did. Their polishes are absolutely AMAZING!! I’ve been lemming a few of their shades and had a hard time choosing which 2 I wanted last month for their ‘2 free polishes’ promo. I ended up choosing ‘Laney’ and ‘Jules’ and I’m happy with my choices. My nail polish collection wasn’t exactly overflowing with neutral colors and that’s exactly what I needed.
My first Zoya polishes!!
Zoya describes ‘Laney’ as “Silver metallic duochrome. A frosty hint of green creates a unique “oil-slick” look.” I couldn’t have put that better myself. Now I normally wouldn’t say that silver is a neutral color, but this one is definitely a neutral color on me. It’s not as bold as the other silvers I have, Orly’s ‘Shine’ & Rimmel’s ‘Shine On’. The duochrome is definitely visible too. I actually wore this in a half-moon mani last weekend, but didn’t photography it. I’m going to have to do a swatch of it soon though.
‘Jules’ is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Zoya describes it as “A sparkling neutral light taupe with gold, silver and champagne metallic shimmer. A new modern metallic that gives an ultra-luxe look.” It’s a beautiful soft color on me, and I think it looked more gold than anything against my skin. A few golds have found their way into my collection recently, but Jules is definitely one of a kind. I wore this last week and did take a picture of it. Check it out.
How gorgeous is that?!
Zoya’s run about $8 a bottle, but I bought these 2 with their promotion so they were free and all I had to do was pay $6.95 for shipping. I would definitely fork over the $8 for them though. The formula is great and these 2 shades were opaque with 2 coats. I’m currently lemming for ‘Skylar’, but have been banned from buying another bottle of nail polish until I wear every color in my collection (maybe more than once according to my friend Ryan). Zoya is one of the brands that’s naming it’s colors after women’s names. I think it’s cute and might eventually get ‘Jasmine’…eventhough that’s not how mine name is spelled. It’s a beautiful wine colored shimmer with pink & brown undertones. Oh yes!!
