Today was supposed to be the day that I walked across the stage and received an empty degree holder for finishing up my BA in Criminal Justice back in August. That didn’t happen though. I woke up this morning with sharp chest pains and numbness in my left arm. I panicked, because this wasn’t the first time it happened. It happened back in July when I was at work and I went to the ER then, but wasn’t diagnosed. That all changed today though. After spending about 5 hours in the ER at Ben Taub (which is a record for that hospital) we narrowed it down. I didn’t have a stroke or heart attack (Thank God!), I’m not pre-diabetic (Thank God again!), but I do have pleurisy, inflammation in my chest & lungs. After about 15 tubes of blood, a urine analysis and a CT Scan we narrowed it down to that.
I am upset that I missed my graduation ceremony, but I’m happy to have a quasi- diagnosis. I have a follow-up appointment on the 11th to get a concrete answer, the PA thought it was something with my heart and wants me to go to a GP to get more tests run to make sure. I’m game as long as we treat this. It hurts like hell and I would prefer to not experience this pain again.
I’m going to take it easy for the rest of the evening like the PA told me, but I wanted to take a moment to thank y’all for your prayers and well wishes.
